Purpose: Leadership development is a year-round practice of invitation, education, encouragement, and support that helps people find their place in the congregation and strengthens the community’s capacity for shared governance and mutual care.

Domain: The LDC supports leadership development at INUUC by helping members and friends discover, grow into, and sustain meaningful leadership roles within the congregation.

Mission: The mission of the Leadership Development Circle is to build a sustainable culture of shared leadership by helping members and visitors understand how INUUC works, discover meaningful ways to participate, grow in confidence and capacity, and move toward leadership roles when they are ready.

Goals: The LDC will strengthen the leadership pipeline, increase circle participation, reduce barriers to engagement, support current leaders, and prepare qualified candidates for future LDC, GC, coordinating circle, and other congregation-wide leadership roles.

Aims: The LDC aims to make leadership development visible, approachable, relational, and ongoing. Its work should help people move from basic awareness to participation, from participation to responsibility, and from responsibility to shared congregational leadership.

Objectives: During the first year, the LDC will clarify its structure, create practical pathways from Tier 1 to Tier 4 participation, improve communication about circles and volunteer opportunities, establish follow-up practices after orientation, curate useful leadership development resources, and identify people who may be ready for deeper engagement or future leadership.
