Dear Members and Friends of INUUC,

As we enter this year’s stewardship campaign, Celebrating Our Community, we find ourselves building on a year of thoughtful planning and careful financial stewardship.

Last year, we proposed a budget that included the possibility of drawing from our surplus to support several initiatives. In practice, those plans evolved, and we adjusted accordingly. That experience reflects how we operate—we plan carefully, adapt when needed, and spend with intention.

Our proposed budget for the coming year is $120,000. This budget includes a modest, planned use of surplus funds—less than what we anticipated last year—as we take the next steps in strengthening and growing our community.

Our priorities for the year ahead are clear.

We are strengthening our commitments.

This includes deepening our relationship with Reverend Cheryl, sustaining our partnership with Spokane Friends Church, advancing our social justice work—including our ongoing commitment to dedicate at least 10% of our budget to these efforts, a standard we have consistently met or exceeded—and supporting the circle structure that connects our community.

At the same time, we are expanding our welcome.

We are continuing and completing our work toward becoming an accredited Welcoming Congregation, building family-focused programming including consistent childcare, and creating more opportunities for connection through additional community gatherings.

We are not trying to do everything at once. We are focusing on the areas that will make INUUC more stable, more accessible, and better prepared for the future.
