Fun Circle News and Upcoming Events

The Fun Circle has launched! Our mission statement is “All for Fun and Fun for All”. We aim to create some opportunities for fun activities, and aspire to appeal to everyone’s different sense of fun and abilities.

Nancy Freitag and Joyce Robinson are leading the Fun Circle. We would love to have more circle members if there is anyone else who would like to help plan some Fun.

We will have a host at each event, so you know who to look for. If weather precludes an outdoor activity, text or email the host to ask if it’s still on. Since we aren’t doing sign-ups, we wouldn’t know who to notify if we need to cancel. It’s always possible the host may be sick or unable to show up, so it might be good to verify on the “day of”.

Pool Day!
Friday June 23, 1–3 p.m.

Free pool/park meetup at Liberty Aquatic Center (5th and Pittsburg) on Friday June 23, 1–3 p.m. All pools are free, but you need to get an aquatics card, which just means you give them your name. You can do that online at Catalog – Spokane Parks & Recreation (rec1.com) or at the pool. I know some of you might think there will be way too many kids, that’s not for me. Yes, there are a lot of kids. But the Aquatic Center is a delightful layout with tables and you can bring folding chairs, drinks, coolers, and food. There is shade so you can stay out of the sun. It’s a family event, so all are welcome, including children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends and acquaintances. No dogs. If nothing else, just come for an hour and hang out in the sun/shade. Don’t forget your folding chair!  Nancy is the contact for this event, at funcircle@inuuc.org.

Let’s Enjoy a Morning at the MAC!
Wednesday June 28 at 10 a.m. until 12-ish.

With coffee or lunch afterwards in Browne’s Addition (location to be determined). We have secured a free day pass for two adults and up to four children. Check out the exhibits in the following link. Joyce is the contact person for this event. Please email funcircle@inuuc.org for questions and info and to request use of the free pass. https://www.northwestmuseum.org/

An Evening at the Garland Theater
July 15 at 7:15 p.m.

A visit to the Historical Garland Theater for the 30th Anniversary of “Benny and Joon”, filmed around the Spokane area. Please visit https://garlandtheater.com/movies/benny-joon-30th-anniversary/ for more information. NOTE: There are still tickets available for this event but the theater is expecting to be filled (it seats approx. 500) so do not wait too long to purchase.  This is a $10.00 event and open seating. We can try to sit together if you RSVP the Fun Circle.   The understanding at this time is that following the movie there will be a viewing of a documentary about the making of the film produced by Don Hamilton of Hamilton Studio. Followed by a question-and-answer session. Joyce is the contact person for this event: funcircle@inuuc.org

More events will be planned. Keep watching the newsletter for updates.
