Zoom Inclusion Ministry is a component of our inclusion efforts that extends a welcoming embrace to both individuals present in person and those who join us virtually. While we extend physical greetings such as handshakes or hugs in person, we recognize that there are equally effective methods for welcoming participants on Zoom. Our Unitarian Universalist (UU) principle of “Love at the Center” compels us to foster inclusive relationships with all individuals, regardless of their location. Yes, Zoom services were created by necessity with COVID-19, but there are many reasons to continue and strengthen these multi-platform experiences.
Accompanying our online experiences are challenges. One such challenge is “Zoom-bombing,” which occurs when an individual disrupts an internet gathering by adding unwanted sound or images. We want to be welcoming to all who honestly come to us and protect all. There will be new processes that happen behind the scenes for those protections. Hopefully, they will not be noticed in your service experience.
