The American Indian Community Center was featured at our March 3, 2024 service. Their leaders shared the history of AICC which began in 1967 as a gathering place for urban Indians. Its mission is to provide comprehensive social and economic development services for all racial groups in the Spokane community, encouraging individual and family self-sufficiency, while protecting and preserving the cultures and traditions of American Indian/Alaskan Natives. The dedicated staff help clients with basic needs such as food and clothing.
They also explained that AICC has had 11 rental buildings within its 55 years of servicing its community. It’s now engaged in a capital campaign to fund a permanent home near the ancestral fishing grounds of the Spokane Tribe of Indians. You can help make this vision a reality. Go to the AICC website to make donations to AICC and to its capital campaign for a permanent home. The website also has a wish list for clients needs. Currently they would most appreciate different sizes of men’s and women’s underwear. https://aiccinc.org/
