Trans Day of Remembrance
with Rev. JeKaren Olaoya
This service was originally presented on November 17, 2024 at the UU Fellowship of Gainesville.
On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we gather in love and solidarity to honor the lives of transgender individuals lost to violence and injustice. While we hold space for grief, we also turn our hearts toward hope—envisioning a future where every trans person is celebrated, affirmed, and safe. Through reflection, ritual, and community, we will lift up the power of love to overcome fear and hate, and commit ourselves to building a world grounded in compassion, equality, and justice for all. This service is a time to mourn, but also a time to inspire action and imagine a future full of safety, dignity, and joy for our transgender siblings. All are welcome.
Rev. JeKaren Olaoya is in the Fellowship’s pulpit. Erin Parish serves as worship associate, and James Chase provides our story for all ages. Tane’ DeKrey provides musical accompaniment.
