Nonprofit Spotlight: Carl Maxey Center

During April and May we are delighted to spotlight the Carl Maxey Center: Empowering, Uplifting and Advocating for Spokane’s Black community.

The Carl Maxey Center (CMC) is a Black-led and Black-centered non-profit, 501c3 organization, based in the East Central neighborhood of Spokane, Washington. CMC is both a neighborhood cultural center and gathering place, as well as a community based organization that provides programs and services focused on addressing the needs of Spokane’s African American/Black community.

The Carl Maxey Center’s vision is for the Spokane region’s Black community to be a model for building generational wealth, educational excellence, justice and cultural vibrancy. In the wake of the tragic loss of the Carl Maxey Center’s Founder and Executive Director, Sandy Williams, we join in celebrating her life and furthering her mission of bringing equity, justice and economic prosperity to the Black community of Spokane. You can use the Carl Maxey Center’s Spokane Black Business Directory at https://www.blackspokane.com/.
