The Inland NW Unitarian Universalist Community (INUUC) seeks a community-based staff person to foster connection and community within our congregation. The Membership Engagement Coordinator will coordinate and create programs to welcome and assimilate visitors, members, and friends into the life of the church and to provide opportunities for ongoing engagement through activities, groups, and events that allow a place for every person in this community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend, and socially interact with members each Sunday morning.
  • Organize activities that foster a sense of belonging and connection.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with INUUC circles, teams, and other groups.
  • Communicate with members about upcoming programs and events using INUUC’s social media, and email accounts.
  • Write articles as appropriate for the weekly INUUC newsletter.

What Were Looking For:
The ideal candidate is creative and proactive, with excellent communication skills. They will make personal contact to discern the needs of individuals. They will enjoy building strong relationships, working collaboratively in a team. They will research ways of being together in partnership and assist our community as we participate in multi—platform (both in-person and online) gatherings. Candidates should be skilled in giving and receiving feedback, open to learning, and enthusiastic about helping INUUC grow as a loving and inclusive community.

Preferred Skills & Qualities:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • A passion for creating meaningful connections.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about the framework of Unitarian Universalist principles.

Flexible Hours & Remote Work:

This is a ten-month position, mid-August —mid-June and offers flexible working hours, with the expectation of attending Sunday services and community gatherings. It is possible this position could add hours. Remote work opportunities are available for tasks like planning, organizing, and writing. Training opportunities through the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and the Western Region of the UUA will be provided to support the selected candidate.
