Social Action at INUUC
Action is at the core of our faith. As a community and as individuals we advocate, organize, and act for justice to live out our UU values. Our Social Action Council coordinates INUUC social action.
Below are some specific organizations and activities that our church supports:
OWL Team (Our Whole Lives): Offers age-appropriate sexuality classes for people of all ages.
Faith Action Network (FAN): A statewide, multi-faith partnership to support common good.
Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane (PJALS): Works on issues of peace, economic justice, racial equity and human rights.
Joy and Justice Team: Oversees distribution of INUUC fund for emergency community needs.
Nonprofit Spotlight Team: Educates the congregation about local nonprofits that support INUUC’s mission. It encourages members to volunteer and donate to them.
LGBTQ+ Team: Sponsors a monthly “hang-out” and INUUC’s presence at Pride Parade.
Spokane Alliance Team: represents INUUC at the Spokane Alliance, a non-partisan and non-profit alliance of congregations, unions, student and community groups in Spokane County. They organize for the common good.
