Coordinating Circle Kicks off New Season

The Coordinating Circle (CC) is where all INUUC program circles converge into a whole-church blend of programs, initiatives, and activities. Monthly CC meetings bring together representatives from all twelve program circles, such as Pastoral Care, Non-Profit Spotlight Circle, Communications, Soul Weaving, Fun, Membership, Healthy Community, UUA Connections and more. Together they share, discuss, and, yes, coordinate much of INUUC church life. Acting as a hub of information-sharing and decision-making, the CC ensures that all circles are aligned with INUUC’s mission, and are working smoothly and effectively in accordance with our covenant.

Representatives to the CC met for the first time this season on Wednesday evening, August 30, welcoming old and new members, as well as Reverend Crystal Zerfoss who begins the new 2023–2024 year as INUUC’s half-time minister. Following a dynamic governance process, the group selected new officers: Leader Sara Bauer, Facilitator Erin Fitzgerald, Secretary Stephanie Samson, and Delegate to the Governing Circle Lannie MacAndrea. Meeting times were set for the first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. The evening time was chosen to allow more circle representatives to attend who are otherwise busy during the day.

In closing comments at Wednesday’s meeting, one new member expressed appreciation for the “transparency” of the discussions and a longtime member was “touched by the love, dedication, and compassion” demonstrated during the evening and expressed optimism about “the great future ahead of us.”
