Did you know that Washington State is the leading relocation destination for trans and gender-diverse Americans who flee twenty-six states with hostile laws and violence? Trans-led organizing collectives are working with LGBTQ+ organizations and with faith communities to develop grassroots help. The Pink Haven Coalition members support individuals and families who need to relocate to safer states, to access healthcare across state lines, or to stay as safe as possible where they are.

Join Inland Northwest UU Community for a meeting with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee’s Coordinator for Congregational Activism, Heather Vickery, about the work of the Pink Haven Coalition (www.pinkhaven.org). The informational session is Saturday, October 19, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Event Room B at The Hive—a Spokane Public Library, 2904 E Sprague Ave, Spokane, WA 99202.

You will hear background on the increase in attacks against 2-spirit, trans, and gender expansive folks that make them fit the United Nations’ criteria to be designated as internally displaced people when they relocate. Heather will invite our community to help people stay as safe as possible where they are or move and rebuild their lives where they have bodily autonomy with equal rights to access healthcare and housing.

Love and light, Clark Pomerleau
