Rev. McCarty is Minister Emeritus at the UU Congregation of Columbus, Indiana and Pulitzer Prize-nominated author of Clueless: My Education in White Supremacy and Reflections: On Time, Culture, and Spirits in America, as well as the play, Servetus: The Radical Reformed Musical. He will explain implicit (and explicit) biases embedded in American popular culture, as well as reasons why the Unitarian Universalist Association’s work to reduce those biases needs to continue.
Rev. McCarty now writes in hopes that his words might help our world become more just, equal, and compassionate. He has two accomplished daughters, Erin and Colleen, and two grandchildren Moira and Quinn. He lives in Bloomington with his life partner, Kate, and a pampered cat.
