News from FAN

I know that some of you are passionate about housing and if you aren’t you may know others in your congregation who are passionate about housing and homelessness. I would like to extend the invitation to you to join me at Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Day (HHAD) in Olympia on Friday, March 14. Martha and Sandy Nichols are going.

HHAD is one of the largest annual lobby days at the state capitol in Olympia. Advocates gather from all over Washington to meet in person with their lawmakers and rally for housing justice. HHAD is hosted by a partner organization of ours, the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance (WLIHA) and it has strong presence and leadership from people directly impacted by housing injustice, including through the Resident Action Project.

WLIHA is generously offering free transportation via charter bus for people in Eastern Washington thanks to the Empire Health Foundation. They are chartering two buses from Spokane that will depart at 5:20 a.m. on Friday March 14 (I know it’s early, but you can always nap on the way to Olympia!) and return at 10:15 p.m. on the same day. Lunch will be provided at the Capitol and dinner will be provided on the return drive. You can read more about and sign up for the charter buses here, but make sure you also sign up for HHAD, it is a separate link

I hope that you can join, it would be great to have a strong presence of faith from the greater Spokane area advocating for housing justice!
