Our speakers on Dec. 15 will be Jim CastroLang and Saw Gary from Thrive, a nonprofit whose mission is to empower local refugees from surviving to thriving. Thrive is responding to a global refugee crisis that affects Spokane and Washington State. Thrive is a transitional housing provider connecting refugees to resources working with community partners and faith organizations. Jim is a retired UCC minister and the Thrive Director of Policy and Advocacy. Saw Gary, Director of Empowerment Programs, is a refugee and will share stories of Thrive refugees served. Key to their presentations will be the themes of compassion and justice coupled with sustainable solutions that help refugees to thrive in their new environment.
