It didn’t take long for Lisa and David Bessen to get acclimated to Spokane and INUUC! They moved to the Rockwood Retirement Community in June 2024 from Denver, CO. Since then, David worked for Spokane County processing ballots and registering voters, joined the Spokane Camera Club, and has gotten involved with the Rockwood community and the Spokane Alliance. Before retiring, David taught medieval European history and later ran technology departments in the newspaper industry and local government. In his spare time, David explores photography, enjoys cooking, and likes to learn about other cultures and countries. Lisa works as a Software Product Manager. She is learning about Spokane nonprofits and volunteers at Rockwood and Women Helping Women. In Lisa’s free time, she enjoys reading, exercise, cycling, and yoga. 

The Bessens have been UU’s since they joined a San Diego UU Fellowship in 1999 and have long been active in work for social justice.  At our November 17 Sunday service, Lisa sat on the floor to play with an exploring toddler and David served as one of the facilitators for our Spokane Alliance Listening.
