Second Harvest Bite2Go Program

Help Us Fight Childhood Hunger!

One out of five kids in Eastern Washington is at risk of hunger, and without food assistance from their school, many of these children face the weekend uncertain about where their next meal will come from. Through the Second Harvest Bite2Go program, the most at-risk students are given a bag of food every week that helps supplement their food supply over the weekend. Over the past 10 years, INUUC members have supported Balboa Elementary through this program. During the 2022–2023 school year, 46 students received Bite2Go kits every week. This was a 30% increase over the previous year and with the continued rise in food costs, it is anticipated the number of students in need will increase again this school year.

It is our goal that no student be put on a waiting list to receive these kits because we don’t have enough sponsors. As the 2023–2024 school year begins, please consider sponsoring a student at Balboa Elementary, our designated school. Sponsoring a child is only $15 a month or $180 a year. To become a sponsor, please donate to Second Harvest directly, by calling 509-534-6678 to indicate you want to sponsor a student at Balboa Elementary through the Bite2Go program. You can make this donation with a credit card, either monthly or for the full year. You can also mail a check to Second Harvest Food Bank, 1234 E Front Avenue, Spokane, WA 99202. Be sure to indicate Balboa Elementary on the memo line. One time donations to this program are also gratefully accepted if you cannot sponsor a student for the entire school year.

If you are currently a Bite2Go sponsor, your continued support is greatly appreciated. Thank you for supporting the many Bite2Go kids at Balboa Elementary.
